Frequently Asked Questions

Which AODD pump material is best for sulphuric acid?

PVDF and PTFE (Teflon) are rated A (Excellent). PP is suitable for dilute concentrations up to 30%. Aluminium and SS-316 should be avoided.

Which AODD pump material is best for hydrochloric acid (HCl)?

PTFE and PVDF are rated A at all concentrations. PP is suitable for dilute HCl. Neoprene, SS-316, and Aluminium are not recommended.

Can AODD pumps handle solvents like acetone and toluene?

For acetone, SS-316 and PTFE are rated A. For toluene, metallic pumps (AL or SS-316) with PTFE diaphragms are recommended. PP and Neoprene are not suitable.

Which pump material is best for food and pharmaceutical applications?

PTFE, PVDF, and Santoprene are FDA-approved recommended materials for food-grade and pharmaceutical fluid transfer.

What is the difference between PTFE and PVDF?

PTFE (Teflon) has the broadest chemical resistance. PVDF (Kynar) is mechanically stronger for higher pressure applications. Both FDA-approved.

What does Rating D mean?

Rating D (Not Recommended) means the material will be significantly damaged. Always select A or B rated materials. Contact Antlia if you need confirmation.
